Ridgid TS2424 with all original equipment plus custom cabinet. Asking $250. The Delta Biesemeyer BC-30 saw fence system is NOT included in the $250 price.

The outfeed table is another $50 and includes six drawers on the left side and open storage on the right side with an opening for the motor

Possessions of Power

Ah, the power equipment arsenal. Power is how I got started, in large part from the early influences of Norm Abram and the New Yankee Workshop. Only later did I stumble on The Woodwright’s Shop, but that is another post.

After moving into my current residence with the oversized garage, I just happened to be awash in Home Depot gift cards I had been hording for some time. Ridgid orange became my color of choice in the shop.

My power equipment team includes a Ridgid table saw, jointer, planer and drill press. I also have a Dewalt 12 inch SCMS and 20 inch scroll saw. The yellow coordinates well with the orange. The G0555 14 inch bandsaw hails from Grizzly and the lathe is from Delta. The color scheme is now blending together. And finally, the oscillating spindle sander is a Ryobi and the drum sander is a Jet 16-32.

It took eight years to accumulate the power equipment and shortly thereafter I encountered the peace and quiet of hand tools. More on hand tools later.

Shop Space

My shop, no artistic talent, so can’t call it a studio, is fairly well equipped, for a hobby enthusiast. Major equipment, power tools, hand tools, the lumber hauler and the people hauler live together harmoniously.

The garage is attached to the house and measures 30 feet in length and 20 feet in width. It started life as a double car garage and I extended the length 10 feet to house my shop. Most equipment is situated away from the overhead door closer to the door to the house and along either side. The two vehicles occupy the space closer to the overhead door. I have plenty of room with the vehicles outside. I’m allowed to leave the wood hauler out while a project is underway but the people hauler must be parked in the garage.

I have some space for wood storage in the shop but I also have a 10 X 12 shed which used to house the lawn equipment but is now full of wood.

Introduction

My name is Teresa Jones.

By weekday I spend time and effort designing the user interface and logic specifications for trust tax software and supporting the application. Sounds like fun, eh? I am blessed with good fortune, great colleagues and pretty decent management in that role. Other than being a CPA, I have no idea how my journey ended up on this path.

By evenings and weekends, when not busy with family, friends and the laundry or being just plain lazy, I hang out in the garage which houses my humble yet largely adequate woodshop and lumber hauler. Time in the woodshop restores my being and fills my stew pot (more on that later).

I have no idea if blogging is going to take or not. I never fancied myself a writer and I am certain my high school English teacher would suggest some other activity.

Until next time,

Teresa (AKA – TJ or Jonesy)
